For Holy Cross School's Science week we had a series of workshops with each year group around senses - making our own smell blends and then making artwork inspired by the smells. I brought in a huge range of dried ingredients for the children to pick from to make a blend in a tea bag. With our created blends we thought about how our bodies react to different smells and did some movement exercises to get inspired. We then thought about how our gestures might relate to line and colour and each child drew their blends on long rolls of till paper. These strips have been put together as a collective smell-scape (above) and some of my favourite drawings are represented below.
